Working Groups The Federation has convened four working groups which will look at specific issues relating to Museums in Wales. Members are encouraged to use these groups for advice, sharing useful contacts and tips and for suggesting future training days and seminars. The working groups operate as small sub-committees, made up of several ordinary members and chaired by a Committee member. Any members of the Federation can contact any working group for advice and attend the workshops and seminars. If you are interested in sharing your knowledge and expertise through membership of a working group, please contact the relevant person below. If you would like advice, help or more information on a particular topic, please also contact the relevant group. The chair of each group will be able to put you in contact with someone who can help you or will discuss your issue with the rest of the group to try and find the most useful solution. We are here to help you! Contact: Frank Olding
Stewardship
Contact: Jane Henderson E-mail: stewardship@welshmuseumsfederation.org.uk Members of the federation stewardship group look at issues surrounding collections management, conservation and documentation. The group convener is Jane Henderson. The Stewardship Group was instrumental in the organisation of a ‘Conservation in Wales’ conference held in June 2006. The conference Challenging Buildings: The Search for Solutions explored problems of collections management with and within historic or unusual buildings. A CyMAL grant provided money for key note speakers and a bi-lingual publication of the papers presented.

Access & Learning
Contact: Andrew Deathe E-mail: access.learning@welshmuseumsfederation.org.uk Aim: This group will look at issues concerning the use of collections
through exhibition, education and outreach. We can advise on matters such as
setting up a loans service, using oral history in exhibitions or working with
particular community groups for example. If you have a question about improving
contact with the audience you have or about ways to use your collections
differently, you should contact this group. The Access and Learning Working Group is interested in ways to improve museum
access in Wales. In the future we may initiate research into matters such as the
coverage of museum education to children in Wales, the use of collections by
ethnic minorities and the use of electronic media in collections access. If you
know of a particular area that you would like to see more research into, please
let us know. | ||||||||||||||||
