Wisteria Cottage from the road

Wisteria Cottage

Situated within easy walking distance of the town centre Wisteria Cottage is a wonderful example of a grade II listed Duke of Bedford cottage.

Originally built circa 1860 the cottage retains many original features including a stone fireplace, stripped floors, window shutters & pantry.

The cottage is well furnished throughout. The living room has an old-style gas fire, colour TV, video/DVD player and a wonderful beamed ceiling which is carried through to the dining room.

The kitchen is compact but well equipped with gas double oven cooker, dishwasher, fridge and microwave etc.

At the top of the landing is the shower room/WC, either side of which are the two bedrooms one double and one twin, again with beamed ceiling and original features.

Outside there is off road parking and an enclosed courtyard garden/patio and even an outside loo!

The cottage would serve as an excellent base for anyone wanting to explore the wonder of Dartmoor, West Devon and North Cornwall or just to get away from it all for a few weeks!

Non-smokers are preferred at Wisteria cottage and dogs are welcome by arrangement.

Tavistock

Situated at the western edge of Dartmoor, Tavistock straddles the fast flowing river Tavy and has long been the centre of this fascinating district.

Tavistock recently won Best Market Town in Britain and it is easy to see why. The town centre has a diverse shopping area. With an extraordinary selection of small independent shops and some national chains – it really has something for everyone!

The Pannier Market is a must though, open Tuesday – Sunday with an ever changing selection of stalls it really is the jewel in Tavistock’s crown and has fantastic architecture to boot.

Tavistock has a good selection of eating houses as well ranging from cafes and take-aways through coffee shops and pubs to nationally acclaimed restaurants.

Just out of town there is even more choice – but you’re on holiday take a bit of time and explore for yourself.

See our 'Local Interest' page for more ideas.

Dartmoor

Dartmoor is a stunningly beautiful area of moorland with wooded valleys and wind-swept Tors. A wide-open expanse covering 369 square miles (953 sq. km.), the area features some of the wildest and bleakest country in England.

It is wonderful hiking country, and can become very busy during the summer months even with the extremes of local weather, particularly the mist that can descend without warning!

You do really have to experience Dartmoor for yourself, so get out there!
