Manuela Bordin

Manuela Bordin was born in Maser, Italy and now lives in Treviso. She is a graduate of the Fine Arts Academy of Venice and has an MA from Camberwell College of Arts, London, England.

Bordin is primarily a painter who also has a major interest in printmaking. She has exhibited widely across northern Italy and in Britain and has won awards in both the Royal Academy of Arts and the Mall Galleries in London.

Bordin describes the principal focus of her paintings as "The landscape understood as an inner dimension, the 'soulscape'". What she is trying to depict is the distance, the object that is just out of view, unobtainable yet visible in the mind's eye.

She works in oils, pastels and watercolours, whilst also retaining a strong interest in the carborundum techniques of printmaking. Many of her subjects are taken from the rural area around her home town, as well as urban landscapes of parks and city rivers.
