Johanna Poyntz

Johanna Poyntz is a sculptor based near Winchester, England. She has a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from Winchester School of Art and a Diploma in Fine Art from Southampton Institute of Higher Education.

Poyntz works in a variety of media to produce human faces and creatures of great character and expression. Her sculptures seem to capture a moment of movement, as if they were snapshots of a still fluid medium rather than a finished and solid matter. This is clearly a result of her working philosophy - "To allow the material to exert its influence and to be aware of its potential rather than working to an end image is what I strive toward achieving with each piece."

Poyntz is a founding member of the 2D3D South group of contemporary artists and regularly exhibits with them across southern England. More information about the group can be found on their website www.2d3dsouthcontemporaryart.co.uk/.
