Dave Cousins

Dave Cousins has worked all of his life as photographer or lecturer in photography. This has clearly influenced the incredible control of light that characterises his paintings.

Whether in his distinctive stylised painting of the broad landscapes in Dorset and Wiltshire (in southern England), or in his more literal, illustrative pastel images of more intimate views of scenes, Dave brings natural light into play. The time of day, the seasons of the year, all are effortlessly captured, suggested to the viewer rather than impressed.
